The Salvation Army is in need of some volunteers to assist with the 2014 Christmas Kettle Campaign.  This is an opportunity for you to give the “Gift of Time” to make a better Christmas for the less fortunate here in Miramichi.  If you have a 3 hours a week or less to spare between now and Christmas The Salvation Army would love to hear from you.  You can call the office at 506-622-7826 during normal office hours or leave a message any time at the same number; or you could stop by the office at 231 Pleasant Street, Miramichi.  Staff will fill you in on all the details.  Thanks for offering this gift at this special time of year!

The career information center to host "Tuesdays with Employers".  Are you looking for a local job?  Here is your chance to meet potential employers!  In recognition of National Career Week, the Career Information Centre invites you to ‘Tuesdays with Employers’.  This event will allow you to hear about jobs that are available in this area. Close your eyes and imagine a unique, culinary experience where you rely on all of your senses – except sight.  CNIB New Brunswick is looking for energetic, well connected volunteers to help coordinate, promote and lead Dining in the Dark fundraisers in Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton and Miramichi.  Roles include selling tickets, securing auction items and sponsorship or brainstorming ideas for our blindfolded events.  Event proceeds support programs and services that help New Brunswickers who are blind or partially sighted to lead full, active lives.  To learn more or to volunteer, call Christine at 506.857.4240 x 5619 or email

There will be a beautiful night of worship and prayer with an amazing band for Christians at The Point Church - Newcastle location (formerly known as Newcastle United Baptist Church) on the first Saturday of each month at 7:00pm.  Everyone is welcome.

Aerobic Classes for all ages with Arlene Waugh every Monday at 7:30pm and Thursday at 7:00pm at the United Church Hall in Blackville.  Fall Session will run October 6 - November 27 for Middle

Every Sunday the Miramichi Skating Club is now offering Adult Skating Classes from 3:30pm - 4:30pm at the Civic Center!  This is a learn-to-skate program based on individual need, anything from basic skills to figure skating skills.  Cost is $185 for 10 sessions and for more information please contact Eric Fallon at 506-624-9198.

Celebrate the Holidays in our DowntownS!  The annual 'Illumination of the Queen Elizabeth Park' will be taking place this year with the countown beginning at 6:30pm.  This year the Board of Directors, of the Newcastle Business District will be offering a new surprise, with an investment of new lights the park will be sparkling like a Winter Wonderland for the holiday season!  There will be music in the park and from 6:00pm - 8:00pm there will be free horse drawn sleigh rides offered by the Newcastle Business District.  All are welcome.

MP Tilly O’Neil Gordon will be having a Christmas Party at the Miramichi Agricultural Exhibition Association in Miramichi.  Doors will open at 7:00pm with finger foods being served and music/dance will play from 9:00pm – 12:00am by T Blanc.  Admission is free & everyone is welcome.

The Knights of Columbus Council 8381, in Nelson, will be holding their monthly funding raising breakfast
from 8:00am - 1:00pm in the Seniors Hall located at 26 Sutton Road.  Cost is $5 for adults or Take-Away (call 506-622-1010), $4 for children and a Family Rate is $14.  All profits are donated to various charities.  All are welcome and the Knights greatly appreciate your support.  Hope to see you at the breakfast.

Please join in for their biggest 'Living Christmas Tree' celebration ever!  The annual Living Christmas Tree production will be at The Point Church each evening at 7:00pm.  This year they've added

The annual Breakfast with Santa will be held at the Chatham Head Rec Center, from 8:00am - 11:00am.  Breakfast includes Bacon, Eggs, Hash Browns, Beans, Toast, Juice, Tea & Coffee.  Cost

Newfoundlands 'Sherman Downey and the Ambiguous Case' will be joined by local favourite Jimmy Lingley,
