Calling all bakers....we need your help!!  The Miramichi SPCA's annual Bake Sale is this Saturday at Giant Tiger starting at 11:00am.  We hope to make this a huge success!!  If you are willing to bake anything it would be greatly appreciated!! Any donated items can be dropped off at the shelter Thursday and Friday of this week between 8:00am - 4:00pm. The Salvation Army is in need of some volunteers to assist with the 2014 Christmas Kettle Campaign.  This is an opportunity for you to give the “Gift of Time” to make a better Christmas for the less fortunate here in Miramichi.  If you have a 3 hours a week or less to spare between now and Christmas The Salvation Army would love to hear from you.  You can call the office at 506-622-7826 during normal office hours or leave a message any time at the same number; or you could stop by the office at 231 Pleasant Street, Miramichi.  Staff will fill you in on all the details.  Thanks for offering this gift at this special time of year!

The 3rd Annual Turkey Drive is currently being held in Blackville at the Greater Blackville Resource Center.  Donations can be dropped off at the Resource Center Wednesday & Thursday from 10:00am - 4:00pm and Friday from 10:00am - 2:00pm.  Distribution Day is set to December 17th.  Thank you to everyone who can give!

Close your eyes and imagine a unique, culinary experience where you rely on all of your senses – except sight.  CNIB New Brunswick is looking for energetic, well connected volunteers to help coordinate, promote and lead Dining in the Dark fundraisers in Moncton, Saint John, Fredericton and Miramichi.  Roles include selling tickets, securing auction items and sponsorship or brainstorming ideas for our blindfolded events.  Event proceeds support programs and services that help New Brunswickers who are blind or partially sighted to lead full, active lives.  To learn more or to volunteer, call Christine at 506.857.4240 x 5619 or email christine.kennedy-babineau@cnib.ca

FIRST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH
The Breakfast Caregiver Support Group will happen at 10:00am at the Fundy Line Conference Room (Back Room).  This nurturing group is designed for caregivers of persons who suffer from Mental Illness/Addictions Issues.  Breakfast will be at your own expense but the nurturing and supportive environment is PRICELESS.  For more information, please call The Schizophrenia Society of NB Miramichi at 506-622-1595 or Janie Hubbard at 506-622-7966, please leave a message if no answer.

EVERY WEDNESDAY
The Community Support Group will be happening from 6:30pm - 8:30pm at Newcastle Kin Centre.  This nurturing group is designed for people recovering from Mental Health and Addictions.  Caregivers are more than welcome as well.  For more information, please call The Schizophrenia Society of NB Miramichi at 506-622-1595 or Linda Stevens at 506-622-2440.

FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH
There will be a beautiful night of worship and prayer with an amazing band for Christians at The Point Church - Newcastle location (formerly known as Newcastle United Baptist Church) on the first Saturday of each month at 7:00pm.  Everyone is welcome.

EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT
The official Youth Night Kick Off party will be held at the Golden Hawk Rec Center from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.  Activities include a Mobile Gaming Unit, Laser Tag, Open Gym Activities, Games Room and a DJ.  Golden Hawk Youth Night is open to youth Grades 5 - 12 and runs from Sept. 19 - May 15 on Fridays from 6:00pm - 9:00pm.  For more information, please call the Miramichi Community Wellness and Recreation Department at 506-623-2300 or email: jason.walsh@miramichi.org

The 2nd Annual MVHS Christmas Craft Market is a go!  The Christmas Market will be open from 12:00pm - 4:00pm for four consecutive Sundays beginning November 30th in the Miramichi Valley
High School Cafeteria.  Table rentals are $15 each!  This Christmas market is intended for handmade and homemade items only and to book your table please call 506-773-0914.

MONDAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS
The Miramichi Curling Club is having a promotion that allows people to come out and try curling for free!  Every Monday night at 7:00pm until Christmas.  Those in attendance will have the opportunity to sign up after Christmas at 60% of the membership fees and receive a free curling broom upon payment of dues!  For more details, please phone 506-622-0735 or visit

St. Philip's United Church in Whitney will be holding a Blue Christmas service at 7:00pm.  This is a special Christmas service of prayer, reflection and music for those who find Christmas a difficult time to celebrate due to the loss of a loved one or other struggles.  Everyone is welcome, regardless of church background.  For more information, please phone 506-586-0119

The Miramichi Kinsmen and Newcastle Lions are putting on a free Christmas meal for seniors at the Lions Club on Morrison Lane.  Please call 506-622 4046 before Dec.17 to reserve your seat.  A non-perishable food item will be collected at the door for the Food Bank.

There will be a Christmas Break activity day held at the Golden Hawk Rec Center from 10:00am - 3:00pm for youth ages 8, 9 & 10.  From 10:00am - 12:00pm there will be Archery & Bowling.  There will be 3 on 3 Basketball for ages 11,12 & 13.  From 12:00pm - 1:00pm lunch will be served (Pizza and Drink) and from 1:00pm - 3:00pm there will be swimming and open activities in the teen room.  Cost is just $5 per person and that includes lunch


DECEMBER 22, Monday
There will be a candle light parade in Blackville with the lineup beginning at the corner of Main Street and Shaffers Lane
(former village office) at 6:30pm.  The parade will proceed up Main Street to the outdoor nativity scene at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church for the blessing of the Creche and singing of Christmas carols.  Following the parade, everyone is invited to the Father AA McKinnon Memorial Hall where refreshments will be served.  Participants are asked to bring wither a real or a battery operated candle.  All faiths are welcome.

The children from Calvary Baptist Church will be having a special Christmas service.  The Sunday School & the Kids'
Bible Club will participate in telling the Christmas story at Calvary Baptist Church, starting at 7:00pm.  For more details, please call 506-622-7388.

Hooray for Hollywood!  Join in for "Family Camp 1947", a hilarious dinner theatre production with Salmon
dinner and strawberry shortcake.  Festivities will be held at the Miramichi Valley Bible Camp, 104 Enclosure Park Rd. Derby Junction at 6:00pm (seating at 5:30pm).  Tickets are $40 and available from Percy Flanagan by calling 506-625-0237.  Tax receipts will be available.

There will be a Gospel concert held at the United Pentecostal Church in Upper Blackville, starting at 2:00pm.  Lots of create talent including Erddie and Julie Price, Cole Price, Waldo Duddly, Tyson O'Donnel and many more.  Are are welcome!
