Are you looking for a way to support the Friends of Beaubears Island's summer programming and for a chance to win every week?  If so, check out Beaubears Bucks, the Miramichi's latest weekly 50/50 draw. The draw will take place weekly on Friday, deadline to play is Thursday at 4:00pm.  All proceeds will go towards funding summer student employment - which means more programming coming your way in the summer! During the month of April and into May the Alzheimer's Society of NB will be providing at a five week education series that is going to be free and open to the public.   The sessions will educate those in attendance about providing programs and services to those people impacted by alzheimer's disease and dementia here in the Miramichi.  For more details, please call 506-634-8722

The Schizophrenia Society of NB Miramichi will once again be offering 'Strengthening Families Together'.  The sessions will be 6:30pm - 8:30pm every Tuesday at NBCC Room A1104.   Session 1 - Introduction to Program: What is Psychosis? Session 2:  Facts about Psychosis & The Basics of Psychosis.  Session 3:  Psychosis-Causes & Treatment; SPECIAL GUEST.  Session 4: Coping as a Family - What are the issues for families? SPECIAL GUEST Session 5:  Communication & Mental Health System, Good Communication Can & a discussion about our own experiences with Mental Health system.  Session 6:  Recovery & Wrap-up, What does Recovery mean? Recovery Journey; SPECIAL GUEST.  On the last Tuesday after session 6 there will be a program evaluation, distribution of certificates & a celebration!

There will be a Good Friday service at the Miramichi Fellowship Center at 7:30pm.  There will be special entertainment, music and the Youth Group will be reading the story of Calvary.  Everyone is welcome.

“The Cross”, a dramatic presentation for Good Friday, will be presented at St. James and St. John United church, 557 King George Hwy., at 7:30pm.  Everyone is invited to hear this hopeful
message of God’s love and mercy as we remember Jesus’ crucifixion through monologue, scripture, music and reflection.  Travel back in time and see through the eyes of the six witnesses, who were there for the events leading up to the cross.  This is a special evening meant to be thought provoking and enhance one’s spiritual journey through the Easter season.  Participants include Linda Treadwell, Diane Forrest, Nancy Donald, Rev. Has your doctor told you that you need to make some changes in your life style?  You want to have better health, but where do you start?  This might be for you; the Seventh-day Adventist church is offering a vegetarian cooking class with Vegan options, for 2 nights a week for 3 weeks. Held at 290 Dalton Ave. starting at 7:00pm, then again on Sunday April 26 at 3:00pm.  There is a participant booklet with health tips to help you see where you can make changes one step at a time and recipes to take home.  There is no cost, but space is limited to the first 20 to register. The Miramichi Branch of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society will have a meeting at 6:00pm at Chatham Public Library, King St., Chatham.  This month, Donna Kelly, local member, will present her research on her family. A general meeting will follow her presentation.  All welcome to attend.

APRIL 23, Wednesday
The Greater Blackville Resource Center and the Provincial Department of Healthy and Inclusive Communities present 'Soups On', an opportunity for ALL residents of Blackville, Renous and surrounding communities to get together and enjoy a simple luncheon meal FREE OF CHARGE!  Join in between 11:30am and 1:30pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church Hall, Blackville.  All are welcome.

The second annual "Horizon Health Harmonies for Haiti Village Health" will be held at 7pm at Carrefour Beausoleil Auditorium.  The evening will feature a Silent Auction with lots of great items up
for bid, as well as a Variety Show with musical entertainment provided by local Horizon physicians and hospital staff.  Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door, and are available at the offices of Dr. Schaefer, Dr. Hudson, the ER, the Medicine Shoppe, Peak Performance and Town Hill Jewellery & Gifts.

The 'Spring Celebration & Healing Explosion' will be held at the Lyttleton Pentecostal Church.  Joan Hunter will be ministering for these two days.  Joan is the daughter of the late Charles & Francis Hunter who for many years were used by God to bring healing and wholeness to the church.  Joan is a powerful communicator who has picked up the mantel of her parents and is being mightily used in the area of physical and emotional healing.  For more details, please do not hesitate to call the Lyttleton Church office at 506-836-1820

Carroll Baker's Country Classic Concert will be happening at Carrefour Beausoliel School, 300 Beaverbrook Rd., at 7:00pm.  Advance tickets are $30 each or $35 at the door.  Seating is limited.

This year the 21st Annual Walk of Hope registration process will begin at 10:00am, with the walk beginning at 11:00am at the Wal-Mart parking lot.  The registration cost is $5 per person with the exception of those who have pledge sheets and there is also an option for teams to enter.  Participants will walk from Wal-Mart to Seaman's Hospital, a distance of only 2 kilometers and there will be a water stop at Kents, midway, for refreshing.  A reception with the awarding of prizes will follow at the Seaman's Hospital where a light lunch will be enjoyed. Pledge sheets must be returned by April 25 in order to qualify for prizes.  Prior to this event there is going to be a Silent Auction held on their Facebook page with over 50 packages available for bidding, all of which have been donated generously.  The proceeds from this Silent Auction goes toward the Walk of Hope and providing programs to the participants.  Packages will be given out to the highest bidder at the reception for the Walk of Hope.  The team with the highest amount of pledge dollars raised sports a plaque in their organization/business with their name engraved on it for the following year. The first place prize for individuals is a trip for 2 on VIA rail in a sleeper car to Toronto, Ontario and a 1 night stay at the Eaton Chelsea Hotel; a value of $2600.00.  There are prizes for the top 3 earners with the 2nd and 3rd prize are not yet revealed.  For more details, please phone  506-622-1595

The 7th Annual 'Easter Seals Martial Arts Tournament' will be held at the Carlton Street Armory in Fredericton, with doors opening at 8:15am.  The start time of the tournament is 9:30am and cost of admission for spectators is $5.  For competitors, the early registration fee will be $30 or if they decide to pay at the door, the cost will be $40.  For more information, please phone 1-888-280-8155 or 506-458-8739.  This exciting event combines fundraising with the opportunity to compete.  Easter Seals New Brunswick provides equipment and technology to people with disabilities, helping them gain independence and equality in their communities.  Martial Arts Supporting Families living with disabilities.  The success of the event last year created awareness for the participating schools, offered their students opportunities to compete in a positive event, and raised much needed funds.  The Easter Seals Martial Arts Tournament is the venue, for New Brunswick children and adults involved in martial arts, to join in a friendship tournament to raise money for a great cause. Folk singer-songwriter Catherine MacLellan will appear in Blackville for a Hunger Awareness benefit concert at 7:00pm.  Chris Gauthier will provide guitar accompaniment when the duo take the
stage at the United Church Center.  Catherine and Chris recently completed a tour of select venues in Ontario and Quebec in support of their upcoming CD release, 'The Ravens Sun' which will be Catherine's fifth studio album. Folk singer-songwriter Stephen Fearing will appear at the 'Jumpin Fishes Gala Dinner' at the United Church Center in Blackville at 7:00pm.  The evening will feature a gourmet meal of fresh Atlantic
Salmon, and music by the Juno award winning performer.  The event is a celebration of our community, sponsored by the Greater Blackville Resource Center and is timed to mark the end of Hunger Awareness Week activities in Blackville.  Stephen Fearing is a veteran of eight solo albums in addition to releases as half of the duo Fearing and White, and another eight albums with Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.  Stephen finishes up a tour of western Canada later in April, just in time for his appearance in Blackville. A Spring Concert hosted at Newcastle United Baptist Church, will be happening at 7:00pm.   Southern Gospel Music at its finest with New Brunswick's own 'The Ascensions' performing your favorite songs!  Also, from Rockland Maine, 'The Hyssongs' will be performing songs from their newest CD (released April 3rd and will be available at the concert) and from Siverville Tennesse, Soloist Tony Gore will be performing in his very first trip to Canada!  All are welcome

The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life is a celebration of survival, a tribute to the lives of loved ones who have battled cancer, and a time of fun, friendship and fundraising to help to fight
cancer.  The Miramichi's 13th annual Relay for Life will be held at James M.
