August 30, Tuesday
There is a weekly prayer & bible study that happens at the Boom Road Pentecostal Church, every
Tuesday night.  From 6:30pm - 7:00pm there is prayer and from 7:00pm - 8:00pm the bible study called "A Walk in the Word" happens with Gerald and Fay Regan.  All are welcome.

August 30, Tuesday
There is a weekly Bible study that happens at Hillside Church in Blackville starting at 7:00pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Holy Trinity Congregational Church on the former airbase is holding an engaging Bible Study every Tuesday evening. Our small group is learning about basic Biblical and spiritual principles using the book called, Thirty Discipleship Exercises  The Pathway to Christian Maturity. Feel free to join us. August 31, Wednesday
Ageless Grace Exercise Classes will be held each Wednesday in August starting at 10:00am at Middle Island Irish Historical Park, 2345 Water Street, Miramichi.  The Ageless Grace exercise program consists of 21 simple exercise tools designed for all ages and abilities that will stimulate physical function and cognitive function simultaneously. Cost is only $5 a class and for more details, please call 506-773-8908 or email: forwardmove.2@gmail.com. Please bring a sturdy chair such as a folding chair or sturdy lawn chair and don't forget some sunscreen.  In the case of rainy days, the classes will move to St. Mary’s Parish Center, 360 Newcastle Blvd. (Chairs will be provided)

The James M Hill Alumni Association presents the first annual Wall of Fame Awards.  Nominations are now open to all Alumni who have been a role model for current JMH Sudents, to Alumni who have distinguished themselves and/or shown great leadership at the local, provincial, national or international level through their chosen careers or vocations and to Alumni that have made distinguished contributions to the JMH Memorial High School and/or Society through their work or donation of time.  For a nomination form, please email:  JMHALUMNIWALLOFFAME@GMAIL.COM

The Newcastle Business District will be throwing a back to school party in Queen Elizabeth Park from 11:00am –
3:00pm.  Everyone is invited to bring along their family, friends and neighbors to enjoy a fun filled afternoon of food, jumping castles, pony rides, petting zoo, face painting and balloon artist.  This 4th year annual community event is based on the original initiative of Dickison Pharmasave to assist the less fortunate Miramichiers whose children are in need of school supplies. The Miramichi community are asked to show their spirit and help Stuff the Car by bringing back packs, paper, binders, pens, pencils and anything and everything a child will need for school. Monetary donations will also be accepted and will go towards school sports registration.  Items can be brought down prior to or the day of the event to Park Place or Dickison’s Pharmasave on the Square. Please help  the children in our community. Students from Daphne Colepaugh's painting classes will be displaying their work after 10 weeks of instructions at the Miramichi folklore park in Renous from 6:00pm - 9:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to come and there is no price for admission. A light lunch will be served and artwork will be on sale.

The writers from This Hour Has 22 Minutes,- Heidi Brander, Bob Kerr, Matt Wright and Adam Christie, will be flying in from Los Angeles, Toronto and Halifax to tour New Brunswick with this special stop in Miramichi! Join them at The Vogue Theatre, 50 Cunard Street, for an evening of stand up comedy starting at 8:00pm.  Tickets are only $22 - get it? $22? - plus applicable fees.  This show is 19+ and may contain mature themes. September 2, Friday
There will be a Ten Thousand Villages Fair Trade Gift Sale at Saint Andrew’s Anglican Church Hall, 214 Pleasant Street, from 10:00am - 9:00pm.  All proceeds from the sale go back to Ten Thousand Villages.  Anyone interested in volunteering to help set-up and pack-up afterwards, please call Olive Trevors at 506-622-2711. Ten Thousand Villages is the oldest and largest Fair Trade organization in North America, selling artisan-crafted personal accessories, home decor and gift items from around the globe.

September 3, Saturday
The Village of Doaktown will be having a Golf Tournament at the Old Mill Pond Golf Club, with a 10:00am shotgun start.  The cost is $200 per four man team and proceeds will go to support the Golf Club and help keep it open.

September 5, Monday
The Annual Harvest Home Supper will be happening at the St. Stephen's United Church in Black River Bridge from 12:00pm - 5:30pm.  Cost for the Ham or Turkey Dinners will be $12 for adults or $6 for children 12 & under.  The Salmon Dinners will be $15 for adults and $6 for the children 12 & under.  Take-outs available. Canteen will be open and crafts will be sold.

September 5, Monday
The Miramichi Folksong Festival is proud to present the Second Annual Labour Day Fundraiser for the Miramichi Community Food Bank (Newcastle) at the Beaverbrook Kin Centre, 100 Newcastle Boulevard. Admission is a donation and this event is hosted by Susan Butler. The event kicks off with a BBQ at 12:00 PM Noon sponsored by C.U.P.E. Local 865, Music by many Miramichi Musicians from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, along with a Bake Sale. Any organizations who would like to make a cash donation are welcome to do so. Receipts will be issued for donations of $10.00 and up and also looking for donations of Baked Items for the Bake Sale Table. There will be a “new to you” Clothing Sale at Saint Andrew's United Church, 188 Wellington Street, Miramichi (Chatham). This event is taking place Thursday: 11:00 am - 6:00 pm, Friday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Saturday: 9:00 am - 11:30 am. Donations can be dropped off now at the church or can be picked up. If you would like to help, have any questions or have clothes to be picked up call Juanita Hamilton (506) 778-0804.

September 16, Friday
If you know someone that may be struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, a Teen Challenge team will be sharing stories of addiction, recovery and restoration with their families at the Boom Road Pentecostal Church, 1535 Route 425 hwy, Boom Road, at 7:00pm.  Teen challenge is a residential alcohol and drug addiction faith-based program with centers in Alberta, Atlantic Canada, Saskatchewan, and Ontario.  They offer help and hope to those struggling with alcoholism and/or addiction to other drugs.  Addicts, alcoholics, their family and friends begin their restoration through Teen Challenge

October 9, Sunday
The Whooper Spring Players of the Blackville area are hosting a roast beef dinner with entertainment beginning at 6:00pm.  Following the dinner there will be a two hour show performed by the musicians and singers "Country Blend" who are a 5 person group from Manitoba who perform songs made famous by such legendary country singers such as Johnny Cash, George Jones, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and many more.  The show will be held at the United Church Center at 143 Main Street in Blackville.  The cost of the dinner and entertainment is only $25 and tickets are on sale now by contacting Richard or Alice Gilks at 506-843-6139
