The Winter Program for Girls on the Move will be happening each Thursday from 6:00pm - 7:30pm at the Golden Hawk Recreation Center.  The user fee is just $3 and all girls are welcome.  Please call 506-623-2054 to register.

help you beat debt, build wealth and give like never before!  We all need a plan for our money. Financial Peace University (FPU) is that plan! It teaches God's ways of handling money. Through video teaching by Dave Ramsey, class discussions and interactive small group activities facilitated by Rev. Colin Holmes, FPU presents biblical, practical steps to get  from where you are to where you've dreamed you could be. MONDAY & THURSDAYS - FEBRUARY
2016 marks the 150th anniversary of the final ship being built on Beaubears Island.  The Friends of Beaubears Island will have an array of events throughout the year to commemorate the twilight of shipbuilding.  The first of these will be an enlightening lecture series featuring seven Miramichi historians.  Presentations will occur in the library at the Nelson Rural School 7:00pm on Monday & Thursday evenings this month.

The NotaBle Acts Theatre Company is now looking for submissions for its fifteenth annual province-wide playwriting competition.  Contest winners will have their work featured as part of the 2016 NotaBle Acts Summer Theatre Festival, to be held in Fredericton, July 20th- 30th.
New Brunswick playwrights have the opportunity to submit work in three categories, one for 15-30 minute site-specific plays, one for 7-10 minute short plays and another for 30-50 minute one-act plays. Up to four winners from the one-act category will be staged as part of the festival, along with four winners from the short play category and up to three winners from the site-specific category. Students in New Brunswick schools are also eligible to enter scripts for a separate category of the playwriting contest.
In addition to having their work produced at the festival, all winning playwrights will receive a cash prize and script support from an established Canadian playwright.
Copies of the contest rules and guidelines, as well as instructions on how to submit, are available at www.notableacts.wordpress.com. Questions about the contest can be directed to lfalken@unb.ca or (506) 458-7406. The deadline for entries is April 23rd, 2016.

Volunteers are needed to help file simple income tax returns for people in your community, on behalf of the Canada Revenue Agency’s Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).
 
If you have a basic understanding of income tax and are
interested in helping out your community, come Lend a Hand! Contact a participating organization in your community to become a CVITP volunteer, or check the CRA website at www.cra.gc.ca/volunteer.

The CRA will support you by providing training and free tax preparation software. The registration period to become a volunteer is from October to the end of April.

The Miramichi Wesleyan Church, 52 Nelson Street, (across from  Papa Joe’s) will host a Gospel Jam the last Sunday night of each month at 6:00pm.  All are welcome. Bring a gospel song to sing, bring your instrument and strum along, or just come and enjoy listening. Refreshments following.

FRIDAY EVENINGS
Adult Gym & Swim Come join us on Friday evenings at the MVHS Pool and Gym. Gym time available from 7:00-9:00 pm or go for a refreshing dip in our pool from 8:00-9:00. Come out for some volleyball, basketball, badminton, water polo, lane swim, fitness challenges all for one drop in fee of $3/person for the evening. Gym activities will be determined by group interest.

SUNDAY EVENINGS
A new program of Co-Ed Adult Pickup Basketball will be happening at the MVHS Gym from 6:00pm -
9:00pm.  Drop in program offered to all skill levels. Everyone welcome.  Drop in fee of $3 per person/evening and for further information contact the Miramichi Recreation Department at 506-623-2300.

FEBRUARY 8, Monday
Co-Ed Washer Toss will begin and held each Monday evening at the Nordin Rec Center. The games will start at 7:00pm and the cost is $6. Cash prizes will be given out for first, second and third place and there is no need to bring a partner, as partners will be determined through a draw. All are welcome

FEBRUARY 8, Monday - FEBRUARY 12, Friday

There is a weekly prayer & bible study that happens at the Boom Road Pentecostal Church, every
Tuesday night.  From 6:30pm - 7:00pm there is prayer and from 7:00pm - 8:00pm the bible study called "A Walk in the Word" happens with Gerald and Fay Regan.  All are welcome.

There will be a Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper from 4:00pm - 6:00pm at St. Andrew's United Church, 188 Wellington Street, Chatham.  A free will offering will be received for the Refugee Sponsorship Committee.  Supper will include pancakes, sausage, baked beans and delicious desserts. Everyone is welcome to attend.

St. Raphael's Parish will be hosting a pancake supper from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at the Father A.A. McKinnon Memorial Hall.  The price for supper will be $7 for adults and $3.50 for children 12 and under.  The menu includes pancakes, sausages, homemade beans, gingerbread and whipped cream.  All are welcome

The City of Miramichi will be holding the second public presentation to outline the information it has gathered regarding the estimated cost of repairing, renovating and operating the current municipal recreation facilities and the estimated cost of constructing and operating a new multi-purpose recreational complex. The public presentations will be held at 6:30pm at the Miramichi Exhibition Building, 24 Church Street.  At the presentations, information will be provided by representatives of Architecture49, dmA Planning and Management Consultants, Miramichi Community Wellness and Recreation Staff and City Council. All members of the public are strongly encouraged to attend at least one of these presentations. Harvest Time Ministry with Mary Matheson will continue from 10:00am - 1:00pm at the Holy Trinity Congregational Church, 125 Maher Street in Miramichi on the former airbase. This month's feature will be the smash hit movie, "War Room".  Pastor Rod MacDonald from Fredericton will also be speaking for a short time after the movie. Lunch will be provided. Opportunities New Brunswick, in collaboration with the Population Growth Division of the department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labor, invite you to a free bilingual information session at the Miramichi Regional Multicultural Association, 1808 Water St., Miramichi.  The session will be about the Recruitment of International Skilled Workers and employers are welcome from 10:00am - 11:30am and for international students and foreign workers, the times are 1:00pm - 2:30pm.  In the session they will focus on recruitment of skilled workers from abroad and how the Government of New Brunswick can help you in this process.  They will also discuss:  How to attend recruitment events throughout Canada, International recruitment 101 (Europe and Asia), Express Entry, the basics & the Provincial Nominee Program for permanent residency.  This presentation will be led by George Itoafa, Program Officer with the department of PostSecondary Education, Training and Labour.
