The Community Wellness & Recreation Department wishes to advise that the opening of the City Outdoor Pools will be delayed due to maintenance problems.  The Chatham Outdoor Pool Schedule will be moved the Golden Hawk Pool and the Kinsmen Outdoor Pool schedule will be moved to the MVHS Pool from Saturday, June 25 to Tuesday, June 28 inclusive.   Further updates will be provided.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

July 4, Monday
Co-EdWasher Toss will begin and held each Monday evening at the Nordin Rec Center. The games will start at 7:00pm and the cost is $6. Cash prizes will be given out for first, second and third place and there is no need to bring a partner, as partners will be determined through a draw. All are welcome

The Blackville Walking Group invites everyone to attend free walking sessions at the Blackville School between 5:00pm & 9:00pm.  For more information contact Bev Coughlan at 506-843-2854.

There is a weekly prayer & bible study that happens at the Boom Road Pentecostal Church, every
Tuesday night.  From 6:30pm - 7:00pm there is prayer and from 7:00pm - 8:00pm the bible study called "A Walk in the Word" happens with Gerald and Fay Regan.  All are welcome.

July 5, Tuesday
There is a weekly Bible study that happens at Hillside Church in Blackville starting at 7:00pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend.

Holy Trinity Congregational Church on the former airbase is holding an engaging Bible Study every Tuesday evening. Our small group is learning about basic Biblical and spiritual principles using the book called, Thirty Discipleship Exercises  The Pathway to Christian Maturity. Feel free to join us. There will be a 3-day yard sale taking place at 67 Old Line Avenue. The yard sale will start at 8AM and end at 2PM on all three days. Something for everyone!

All kids aged 3 to grade 5 are invited to the Little Southwest Baptist Church from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM for their summer VBS "Deep Sea Discovery". During this special summer event, kids will know that God is always with them, explore God's presence in their lives, and serve by serving others! Join in for this years VBS, "Barnyard Roundup", all week from 9:00am - 12:00pm at St. James & St. John United Church Centre, 556 King George Highway. Miramichi Summer Fun in the Park with Ground Zero Laser Tag at Ritchie Wharf park in Downtown Newcastle. Tickets will be available at the door. $5 per play for 10 minutes of play time. Play once, Play twice, Play FREE. Just play with us two times, and your third time is on the house. What a great way to have fun, and have a blast while you hang out with your friends.

The 59th Annual Miramichi Folksong Festival, is the longest standing folksong festival in Canada! Featuring Valdy, Richard Wood (Fiddler), Missy Burgess, Stephan Palmer, and a host of Maritime and Canadian talent. The Canadian Peacekeeping Veterans Association, Miramichi Chapter will be holding a flag raising ceremony in Queen Elizabeth Park. The parade / ceremony will begin at 11:00am.

August 13, Saturday
The annual Woodsmen’s museum Professional Lumberjack Competition will be taking place at 6342 Route 8 Highway, Boiestown. This annual competition features a variety of exciting events including the springboard chop, the hot saw and the axe throw. This is a great event for the entire family that displays part of the heritage of New Brunswick! Hot dogs and hamburgers will be available for purchase. There are various categories for the competition including best lumberjack, lumberjill and a fun competition for the kids!
