May 23, Monday
Co-EdWasher Toss will begin and held each Monday evening at the Nordin Rec Center. The games will start at 7:00pm and the cost is $6. Cash prizes will be given out for first, second and third place and there is no need to bring a partner, as partners will be determined through a draw. All are welcome

There is a weekly prayer & bible study that happens at the Boom Road Pentecostal Church, every
Tuesday night.  From 6:30pm - 7:00pm there is prayer and from 7:00pm - 8:00pm the bible study called "A Walk in the Word" happens with Gerald and Fay Regan.  All are welcome.

Holy Trinity Congregational Church on the former airbase is holding an engaging Bible Study every Tuesday evening. Our small group is learning about basic Biblical and spiritual principles using the book called, Thirty Discipleship Exercises  The Pathway to Christian Maturity. Feel free to join us. The Salvation Army THRIFT STORE, 231 Pleasant Street, Miramichi will be closed for renovations. 
As well, NO DONATIONS will be accepted until after May 30.  We apologize for any inconvenience and look forward to greeting our customers when they open after the renovations.  If you have any questions, please contact The Salvation Army Family Service Office at 506-622-7826 which will remain open from Tues. May 24 through May 30.

MAY 23, Monday - JUNE 13, Monday
Hospice Miramichi will be offering a four week grief support program beginning on May 23 at 6:00pm. This free educational program may help you make sense of the feelings and changes you are experiencing following the death of a loved one. Classes run until 7:30pm and will be held at Hospice Miramichi, 14 Howard St.  For more information or to register please call 506-773-7607

The Miramichi Branch of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society will welcome Charlotte Loggie as guest speaker at their meeting.  The meeting will be held at the Chatham Public
Library starting at 6:15pm.  Charlotte will speak all about her research entitled “A Thousand Years of Family History”. This will surely be an interesting presentation and afterwards the group will discuss plans for the summer months and the Anniversary celebration in the Fall.

There will be a flag raising ceremony held at 11:45am in celebration of the Rotary Ribfest Miramichi.  Members of the Newcastle and Chatham Rotary Clubs will be in attendance and all are welcome to attend.

Come Join in from 6:00pm - 9:00pm at the Miramichi Freestyle Park for the official opening!  Another season has begun at the Miramichi Freestyle Park and they will be having a kick-off
event.  Be sure to stop by to welcome our newest addition to the park, a brand new modular pump track. This is the first of its kind in New Brunswick. Join us for a barbeque, introductory skateboard lessons, DJ music, prizes, and a demo from a Skate Team.  Located behind the Golden Hawk Recreation Complex the Skate Park is Open to all ages,  BMX, Skate Boarders, Scooters and Inline Skates, Properly fastened helmets are mandatory, Elbow and kneepads are strongly recommended and the Park is supervised.  Cost: $3 daily user fee will be applicable or a $25 membership card from May to October inclusive. The membership cards can be purchased at the Community Wellness & creation Department located at 94 General Manson Way or at the Skate Park during open hours.

Every year the Miramichi Regional Multicultural Association organization partners with the Asian Heritage Society of New Brunswick to promote awareness and diversity in the community. This year they will be recognizing the challenges faced by refugees who live in Miramichi (Vietnamese, Kosovo and now Syrian victims).  As a multicultural organization they have invited the Kitchener Waterloo Arab Theatre production company to perform a play called "My Name is Dakhel Faraj".  The play will take place at the Vogue theatre at 7:00pm (doors will open at 6:30pm) and admission is free, with donations accepted. The play is a true story of the life of a refugee from Iraq who lived under the rule of Saddam Hussein during the Iraq War and watched his wife and son be killed.

MAY 27, Friday - MAY 29, Sunday
The Rotary Club of Newcastle announced details of the“Rotary RibFest on the Miramichi” happening all weekend.  The community event will involve a number of activities with lots of food and will take place in the downtown parking area in front of the library off Ledden Street.  This year will see three professional ribbers coming from the Toronto area to anchor the event, along with some additional food suppliers. These are the same people who are involved in Ribfests in other New Brunswick
cities and southern Ontario.  Many of the same activities will be available . Washer toss and human foosball tournaments are open for registration. Children's activities will be coordinated in partnership the Miramichi Mango Team.  There will be a Sunday morning church at the Point Church in Chatham at 11:00am and two services at their Newcastle location at 9:30am and 11:00am. Musical entertainment will be plentiful. The MVHS Interact Club will host a Spelling Challenge as a new activity over last year. The 3rd Annual Fundraiser/Show and Shine in Memory of Kim Lawlor (Big Daddy), will be taking place at North and South Esk Regional High School at 40 Northwest Road in Sunny Corner, starting at 12 PM. There will be a BBQ, Local entertainment, Bake sale and Children's activities. Bring a chair!

Team Dalton Gang will be hosting a Variety Show at 7:00pm at the CWL Hall in the White Rapids to
raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk for a Cure.  Team Dalton Gang is participating in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk on June 12th in Moncton.   Donation will be accepted at the door as well as a 50/50 draw and tickets will be sold on a trip for 2 anywhere West Jet flies.   Local entertainment including Zack's Band.  All proceeds  from this event go directly to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.  For more information contact Hollie at 506-627-0181.

The Rural Community of Upper Miramichi and the Central New Brunswick Woodmen’s Museum,
Boiestown, New Brunswick, invites you to “Search for Treasures” at their 1st Annual Upper Miramichi Community Yard/Craft/Bake Sale beginning at 8:00am.  Explore “Atlantic Canada’s Great Outdoors” along Route 8 from McGivney to Nelson Hollow and pick up some “new to you” items, some home baked goodies, or craft items.  Rent a table from a local organization such as the Museum or the Boiestown Legion, OR host a yard sale of your own.  Signs are available at the Rural Community Office.  For information contact the Woodmen’s Museum at 506-369-7214 or Rural Community Office at 506-369-9810.

The Annual Walk of Hope will be happening, presented by the Schizophrenia Society of NB (SSNB) -Miramichi Chapter.  The walk will be held starting at 1:00pm and will be set in motion at the Wal-Mart parking lot and come to an end at Seaman’s Hospital, where participants will enjoy entertainment, refreshments, a light lunch and great door prizes.  This event is a major fundraiser of the SSNB-Miramichi Chapter and with your help, they can continue to provide support, education and awareness within the Greater Miramichi community and help those who are living with mental illness. Everyone is encouraged to take part and show your support for those in our community who are affected with mental illness

Ian Baillie Primary School and Saint Andrew's Elementary School invite the community to their yard sale being held at Saint Andrew's Elementary School's Gym. from 8am - 12pm, Rain or Shine! Proceeds go to their new school's playground. In addition to the Yard Sale there will be: Muffins & Coffee/Tea/Water being sold for $1.00/each. 50/50 Squares being sold for $2.00/each. A Bake Sale with lots of yummy goodies. Your support is appreciated. The children thank you!

Tops NB. 1513 is sponsoring a Pancake Breakfast beginning at 9 AM at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 67 King Street, to provide funds for the Miramichi Chapter of Special Olympic Athletes. Come out and have breakfast with us. Cost is $6.00 per plate or Family of 4/$20.00.

The Knights of Columbus Council 8381, in Nelson, will be holding their monthly funding raising

The clinic will run from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 5:30pm to 8:30pm. they do encourage everyone to book appointments, as this will allow them to staff properly for the clinic. The amazing sound of the LADOM ENSEMBLE is back on the Miramichi and they will be live in concert at St. Mary's Church, 360 Newcastle Blvd. at 7 pm. Admission will be a free will offering. Ladom Ensemble combines piano, cello, accordion and percussion in a unique blend of world music. There will be a fundraiser for the St. Andrew's Community Kitchen sponsored by the Miramichi Folksong Festival at 7pm at the St. Andrew's United Church, 188 Wellington St, Miramichi. Hosted by Susan Butler and featuring Miramichi Sings under the direction of Margaret Craig and many local performers. Admission is a free will offering. Reception to follow.

JUNE 11, Saturday
The Central New Brunswick Woodmen’s Museum in Boiestown invites you to join in for a 1930’s
fishing trip from Halfmoon to Boiestown on the Southwest Miramichi River, Atlantic Canada’s Great Outdoors.  The Woodmen’s Museum will pay Tribute to the “Griff-Inns” and the Griffin Family, with a reception and silent at 5:30pm and the Salmon and Fiddlehead Dinner starting at 6:30pm.  The Griff-Inns were internationally known as one of the finest outfitting businesses in the province, catering to sportsmen and tourist from United States, Canada, England, and Europe.  Although, not established in Boiestown until 1928, the ground work for the business was laid in the late 1800’s.
