The Chatham Water Street Trail from the Rodd Miramichi to the former NB Power Plant property will be closed until further notice due to safety concerns.  The City of Miramichi appreciates the public's anticipated cooperation with this closure.

The Greater Blackville Resource Center - Food Bank is accepting donations for their 3rd Annual Turkey Drive.  Donations can be dropped off at the Resource Center on Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays from 10:00am - 4:00pm.  Christmas Hampers will be distributed to registered families with children on December 15 & 16.  To register for a turkey hamper, please contact Rev. Looking for someone to cater to your office, company, family Christmas party or any other function? The Miramichi Girl Guides, who are planning a trip to Alberta for an international camp, are ready to fill this need! They have considerable experience in catering ­ you supply the place, they bring the food.  Menu includes a choice of roast turkey, roast beef and stuffed chicken breast along with dessert.  The cost is $20 per person, other options may be available on request. The Miramichi Wesleyan Church, 52 Nelson Street, (across from  Papa Joe’s) will host a Gospel Jam the last Sunday night of each month at 6:00pm.  All are welcome. Bring a gospel song to sing, bring your instrument and strum along, or just come and enjoy listening. Refreshments following.

Adult Gym & Swim Come join us on Friday evenings at the MVHS Pool and Gym. Gym time available from 7:00-9:00 pm or go for a refreshing dip in our pool from 8:00-9:00. Come out for some volleyball, basketball, badminton, water polo, lane swim, fitness challenges all for one drop in fee of $3/person for the evening. Gym activities will be determined by group interest.

A new program of Co-Ed Adult Pickup Basketball will be happening at the MVHS Gym from 6:00pm -

The fourteenth annual Turkey Drive is underway!  Support
the Rotary Club of Chatham as they seek to collect One Hundred and Fifty turkeys for deserving families in our community.  Help make a difference by dropping off turkeys to Miramichi Meats in Nordin or buy a turkey or purchase a gift card at Sobeys in Douglastown, or either Atlantic Superstore.  Leave the turkey or a gift card there for pick-up. discover the real meaning of the Christmas story. An exciting adventure in Bible discovery, not only as you learn facts that may be unfamiliar and may challenge some assumptions, but also grow together in understanding why Jesus came.  Sessions will be held on Thursdays for Advent at 7:30pm in the Basement Lounge at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Blackville. The Water Street Gallery (1732 Water Street) will have their Christmas Open House the evening of the Parade of Lights in Chatham. The gallary will be open from 6:00pm - 8:00pm with sweet treats and great gift ideas. Drop by for some fudge and cookies and to enter your name to win a door prize! DowntownS Miramichi is inviting children of all ages to
bring their family and friends to celebrate the special 30th Anniversary of the Parade of Lights!  The event is taking place in the Historic Chatham Business District starting at 6:30pm and this year’s theme, 'The Spirit of Christmas' symbolizes all that is celebration and family.  The theme also provides a multitude of ideas for those wanting to enter floats.  Registration forms are now available at City Hall, the Miramichi Leader and in the Historic Chatham Business District office building lobby located at 1745 Water Street in Chatham.  Please note that The Business District portion of Water Street will close at 5:00pm from Henderson through to Water Street until after the parade. The Annual Santa Claus Parade of Lights will be held in
Blackville starting at 5:00pm.  The parade will start at the Hooked 'N Cooked and proceed up Main Street to the Fire Hall where Santa Claus will be handing out treats for children. If you wish to enter a float in the parade, please show up at the starting point (Hooked 'N Cooked parking lot) at 4:00pm.  You do not need to pre-register.

The Annual SPCA Santa Pet Pics Fundraiser will be happening at Salt Water Sounds, Water Street, downtown Chatham! Santa is back and the SPCA are welcoming all pets for the pictures on Saturday from 10:00am - 3:00pm & again on Sunday from 12:00pm - 3:0pm. Photos are $12 each or 2 for $20.  Please come out and get that "must" photo for your album, or your holiday greeting cards!

Once Upon A Christmas, a children's musical, will take
place at 7:00pm at the Miramichi Fellowship Center in Blackville. Admission is a goodwill offering. A lonely grandma is remembering those laughter filled Christmases of the past. She has given up on ever feeling the true meaning of Christmas again. Suddenly her old friends, The Tree Ornaments come to life and she is reminded once again that Christmas is a matter of the heart.

The 17th Annual Christmas to Remember, dubbed this year
as "The Mayors Concert" will be happening at St. Mary's Church, 360 Newcastle Blvd., hosted this year by Susan Butler.  A donation at the door will be accepted supporting St. Mary's Christmas Hampers - Transition House & Miramichi Youth House.  A reception will follow in the Parish Center.  The concert will feature local entertainers including: Friends with Heart, Croft Primary & Elementry Choirs under the direction of Krista Page, St. Andrew's elementary Choir under the direction of Emily Comeau & St. Michaels Choir.

The Blackville School will be presenting its Choir and
Band Christmas Concert at 7:00pm in the school cafeteria. This concert will feature performances by the Blackville School Elementary Choir, the Blackville School Girls’ Choir, the Blackville School Jazz Band with the Grade 9T Instrumental class and some vocal/instrumental solos.  Admission is at the door:  Adults $5, Students $2.  Beverages, fudge, and tickets on a 50/50 draw will be available for sale at the canteen during the concert.

The Country Christmas Craft & Bake Sale will be
happening in Blackville at Darlene's Tea House (186 Barnettville Rd.) from 10:00am - 2:00pm.  There will be lots of Christmas goodies like meat pies, assorted cookies, squares, breads, preserves, handmade quilts, nit socks, hats & mitts, Christmas ornaments & decorations. Come sit by the wood stove and have a cup of tea!

The Whooper Spring Players will be presenting their 11th
Annual Christmas Dinner Theatre production at the United Church Center in Blackville each evening at 6:00pm. A Christmas Childcare Fundraiser will be held in
Douglastown at Northumberlan Square Mall (across from Bentley) from 10:00am - 6:00pm. Cost is $5 per hour per child ages 2-12 years. Children staying during mealtime are required to bring a brown bag lunch (no peanut products please). Children will enjoy a fun Christmas party while parents finish Christmas shopping, baking, decorating, etc... Activities for children will include games, crafts, stories & more. The Blackville School Christmas Program: The Good Ole
Country Christmas will be held at 9:00am.  Two performances of the K – 5 Christmas Program will be happening. Come and see Kenny and Dolly host, “The Good Ole Country Christmas Special”, featuring Red Green, the Elementary Drama Club, and the K – 5 Christmas singers. The program is approximately 90 minutes long and will be held in the school cafeteria.

DECEMBER 16, Wednesday
A community presentation of the Safer Communities and
Neighbourhood (SCaN) program offered by the Department of Public Safety will be held at the Blackville Community Center at 6:30pm.  The meeting is co-sponsored by the RCMP and is open to all residents of the Blackville area. The purpose of the presentation is to educate the public about the SCaN program and RCMP initiatives within our community.
