Nominations for the 5th Annual Roof Project are now being accepted until May 31st.  If you know of someone who is in need of repairs to their roof but simply can not afford the expense, please, nominate them at  If the community does not get behind the project this year, it could be the last year for the initiative.

With the Summer approaching, so to is the decision as to what kinds of activities your children will
be involved.  Will it be soccer, baseball, or something else? If you are thinking that the costs associated may be too much for your family budget, check out the application form for KidsportTM Miramichi.  KidsportTM  Miramichi is a confidential organization that helps families needing assistance in paying sport registration fees.  The deadline for applications is May 31st and all completed applications will be looked at for sponsorship.  Applications can be picked up at the City Hall, the Golden Hawk Recreation Center, and the former Miratech Building.  Forms can also be found on the website and go to the 'How to Apply' link. The Miramichi Valley Bible Camp is extending its early bird registration deadline to May 31st.  Get

Online registration for the 2015 summer soccer season is now open.  Starting April 1st, online registration will be available at  Credit card, cheque or cash are all acceptable, but credit card is encouraged as less work for volunteers.  This is open to players of ALL ages from 4 years old to 94 and beyond, with teams arranged by age and gender. If you turn 4 years old in this calendar year, then you are able to register.  This includes all participants in the Miramichi, Sunny Corner, and Blackville locations.  Space is limited, so players and parents are encouraged to register soon.  Late registration charges will be applied after April 30th.   For those wishing to register or pay in person, volunteers will be available at Tim Hortons locations within the city on April 25th (check website for times and details).  Payments with cheque or cash can be dropped off during business hours at Miramichi Optometry, 470 King George Hwy. during the month of April.

Please note that a Medicare number is required to register online or in person, and a valid e-mail address is recommended.  Desktop or laptop computers are recommended, as phones and tablets may not work properly with the registration process (particularly with credit card payment).  Miramichi United Soccer has been running for over 30 years, and includes the Timbits recreational soccer program, youth competitive teams, and adult leagues.  Last year the local soccer club had in excess of 600 participants, in what is arguably Canada's fastest growing sport.  Questions can be addressed to Jason Hebert at (tel: 506-622-8530), or Greg MacDiarmid at (tel: 506-627-0250).  The "Official" Miramichi United Soccer Club can also be found on Facebook.

The Rotary Club of Newcastle have announced that they have completed their website preparations and now everyone is welcome to register online for the “Rotary Atlantic Washer Toss Championship”!  This activity will be jsut one event at the Rotary Spring Festival in Miramichi the weekend of MAY 22-24.  To register, please look under “Washer Toss” on the official website  Washer toss entries will be teams of two at a cost of $80 and guaranteed a minimum six games under a triple elimination format on Saturday, followed by a double elimination format for the division finalists on
Sunday. The winning team will walk away with a cash prize of $1000 and a paid entry into the World event in August while the second and third place teams will also receive cash prizes.  The “Rotary Atlantic Washer Toss Championship” has been sanctioned by the World Washer Toss Championship.

The Greater Blackville Resource Center is pleased to announce that they will be partnering
with local church groups and service groups for the 'Soups On, Again!' program.  The

Cribbage is held every Thursday evening at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Quarryville with registration between 7:00pm & 7:30pm when the games begin.  All are welcome.

ARPIL 23, Thursday
The Smokers Anonymous Support Group will hold its meeting on Thursdays at 7:00pm at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, in the Hyland Theater, 500 Water Street.   All smokers, non-smokers,
and those wanting to quit smoking, are welcomed to attend this FREE support group.  Please help spread the word by inviting your family and friends to attend.  These meetings are designed as a way for the group to offer support and encouragement to one another to quit or refrain from smoking.  For more information call 506-627-7565 or email

APRIL 24, Friday
There will be a Gospel concert and silent auction on baked goods at 6:00pm at the Napan Community Hall.  Donations will be accepted at the door and proceeds will be in support of "the roof that jack started" to build an arena for the Napan Agricultural show ring.

APRIL 25, Saturday
Miramichi United Soccer Club  will hold live registration for the 2015 summer season, one day only from 10:00am - 12:00pm at the Tim Hortons in Douglastown, in Downtown Chatham on Water Street and in Downtown Newcastle on the square.  Participants are encouraged to avoid line-ups by registering online at  Late fees apply after April 30th.  Minimum age is age 4 this calendar year, there is no upper limit.

The NBCC Wellness Committee is having a yard sale in the gymnasium at the college (80 University Avenue, Miramichi) from 8:30am - 1:00pm.   Cost for renting a table is $5 with set up being the evening before from 5:00pm - 9:00pm.  If you are interested in renting a table, please call Rhona at 506-778-6045 but hurry, limited number of tables are available!

The Knights of Columbus Council 8381, in Nelson, will be holding their monthly funding raising breakfast from 8:00am - 1:00pm in the Seniors Hall located at 26 Sutton Road in Nelson.  The cost is $6 for adults or take-away (506-622-1010), $4 for children and a Family Rate is $15.  All profits are donated to various charities.  All are welcome and the Knights greatly appreciate your support.  Hope to see you at the breakfast.

The talented ladies of the River will be performing a spring event showcasing the best singing
talent on the river at the Renous Rec Center at 7:30pm.  All proceeds from this event will be donated to local bursaries!  Admission is $5 or donation at the door.  Come out for a great evening of entertainment. These ladies really know how to put on a show. Autism Resources Miramichi Inc. presents, their biggest fundraising event of the year, the

Dr Gerard Losier will be hosting a public forum all about our seniors, the crowded hospitals and the need of new nursing homes in the Miramichi.  The public forum will happen at the Exhibition Center in Chatham at 2:00pm and all are welcome.

The Miramichi Worldwide group will be holding a cold-plate take-out lunch on Friday at St. Andrew's United Church, 188

The annual Medavie Blue Cross MS Walk will be happening in the Miramichi starting at 1:00pm.  The route this year will be from
the Beaverbrook Kin Center on Newcastle Boulevard and go on a five kilometre loop back to the club.  People are needed to take part in this very important fundraiser.  To register, you can go to and enter your name or your team name.  There is no registration fee.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride Is Coming To Napan!  One of Canada's most
recognized icons, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Musical Ride, will be performing at the Napan Agricultural Show fairgrounds on June 8th and 9th.  The RCMP Musical Ride represents a colourful Canadian tradition. The troop of 32 horses and riders will perform a variety of cavalry drills choreographed to music.  The Musical Ride was developed in 1876 by early members of the North-West Mounted Police to display their riding ability and entertain the local community. It has evolved over the decades into a uniquely Canadian performance enjoyed by tens of thousands of spectators every year. The Relay For Life 2015 in Miramichi will be happening at James M. Hill High School, from 12:00pm - 12:00am.   This years goal is set at $85,000. Relay participants walk or run together around a track or path at a local school, park or fairground, passing a baton to their fellow participants and working together toward one common goal: the fight against cancer amd create a world where no one fears cancer.
