The "Move it or Lose it" program provides an opportunity for individuals 50 and over to get and stay active.  The program features walking, pole walking, seminars on active living and geocaching in the beautiful scenery of the French Fort Cove.  Whether you would like to try some new activities such as pole walking and geocaching or would just like to join us to walk the trails, there is something for everyone.

TUESDAYS:  10:00am - 12:00pm Pole Walking/Walking
THURSDAYS:  10:00am - 12:00pm Geocaching

This program is FREE to individuals but there are limited spaces due to equipment availability. Nominations for the 5th Annual Roof Project are now being accepted until May 31st.  If you know of someone who is in need of repairs to their roof but simply can not afford the expense, please, nominate them at  If the community does not get behind the project this year, it could be the last year for the initiative.

With the Summer approaching, so to is the decision as to what kinds of activities your children will
be involved.  Will it be soccer, baseball, or something else? If you are thinking that the costs associated may be too much for your family budget, check out the application form for KidsportTM Miramichi.  KidsportTM  Miramichi is a confidential organization that helps families needing assistance in paying sport registration fees.  The deadline for applications is May 31st and all completed applications will be looked at for sponsorship.  Applications can be picked up at the City Hall, the Golden Hawk Recreation Center, and the former Miratech Building.  Forms can also be found on the website and go to the 'How to Apply' link. The Miramichi Valley Bible Camp is extending its early bird registration deadline to May 31st.  Get

The Greater Miramichi Parkinson Support Group meet at he Sobeys Community Room in Douglastown starting at 7:00pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings and for more details, please contact Velma at 506-773-6239

Cribbage is held every Thursday evening at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Quarryville with registration between 7:00pm & 7:30pm when the games begin.  All are welcome.

The Smokers Anonymous Support Group will hold its meeting on Thursdays at 7:00pm at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, in the Hyland Theater, 500 Water Street.   All smokers, non-smokers,
and those wanting to quit smoking, are welcomed to attend this FREE support group.  Please help spread the word by inviting your family and friends to attend.  These meetings are designed as a way for the group to offer support and encouragement to one another to quit or refrain from smoking.  For more information call 506-627-7565 or email

The Knights of Columbus Council 8381, in Nelson, will be holding their monthly funding raising
breakfast from 8:00am - 1:00pm in the Seniors Hall located at 26 Sutton Road.  Cost is $6 for adults or take-Away 506-622-1010, $4  for children and a Family Rate is $15.  All profits are donated to various charities. As part of their North American tour, The African Childrens Choir will be in the Miramichi at The Point

There will be a Customer Appreciation Day held at the ARM Book Nuke.  The Management and Staff of the Autism Resource Miramichi Book Nook, located on 139 Duke Street in Chatham, welcomes you to join in the celebrations of their one year in Business!  There will be music and light refreshments; as well as a free book with every purchase (*some conditions apply*).

There will be a noon luncheon with Opportunities NB CEO, Stephen Lund from 12:00pm - 1:00pm at
the Goodie Shop.  Mr. Lund will be joining in to discuss the ways they would like to improve the economy in NB, as well as share different initiatives that can help you and your business!

The movie "Escape" will be shown at the Miramichi Wesleyan Church starting at 6:00pm.  Everyone is invited to attend this free event.  SYNOPSIS: Doctors Paul and Kim Jordan are struggling to find peace in their lives after the tragic loss of their baby’s life. Paul persuades Kim to escape reality and flee to the exquisite islands of Southeast Asia. Paradise becomes a nightmare when he is kidnapped by human traffickers in need of a skilled doctor. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride Is Coming To Napan!  One of Canada's most
recognized icons, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Musical Ride, will be performing at the Napan Agricultural Show fairgrounds on June 8th and 9th.  The RCMP Musical Ride represents a colourful Canadian tradition. The troop of 32 horses and riders will perform a variety of cavalry drills choreographed to music.  The Musical Ride was developed in 1876 by early members of the North-West Mounted Police to display their riding ability and entertain the local community. It has evolved over the decades into a uniquely Canadian performance enjoyed by tens of thousands of spectators every year. The Relay For Life 2015 in Miramichi will be happening at James M. Hill High School, from 12:00pm - 12:00am.   This years goal is set at $85,000. Relay participants walk or run together around a track or path at a local school, park or fairground, passing a baton to their fellow participants and working together toward one common goal: the fight against cancer amd create a world where no one fears cancer. MP Tilly O'Neil Gordon and her Electoral District Associates  will be coming to the Blackville Park for a community BBQ from 11:00am - 2:00pm.  Tilly's team will bring the BBQs, the food, and the drinks.  All proceeds will be donated to the Greater Blackville Resource Center Food Bank.  There will be events and a jumping castle for the kids and entertainment for everyone!

The Miramichi Police Force is proud to host the 2nd Annual Big Am Challenge at the French Fort Cove starting at 10:00am.  Last year’s event drew over 100 participants!!!!  The event is in memory
of Sgt. Ambury “Big Am” Newman, a dedicated police officer for 35 years and retired member of the Miramichi Police Force, who passed away on January 3rd, 2008.  EVERYONE WELCOME! - The challenge is intended to raise awareness about the importance of officer wellness and promote being physically active in our community.  Everyone is welcome to participate, and the experience is meant to be FUN and CHALLENGING for all!  CHILDREN UNDER 14 – Kids participating in the 1.5K walk/run will receive medals supplied by New Brunswick Medical Society and RunNB.   RACE DETAILS – The race will be held on June 14th, 2015. Same day registration Cove Road Entrance 8:30-9:30am. The run will start at 10:00am. Participants can walk a 1.5km route or challenge themselves to a 6km trek through the trails.
